Good Website : www.hse.gov.uk
- The information which it does give (Health and Safety Related) is very clear. Even the publications are written in a friendly format which is appropriate for small and medium size businesses. This is particularly important as Health and Safety can appear to be a complex issue for SME’s and by having the information and resources written in a clear style and font, it helps to deliver the message much better. The information available on the website and resources is regularly updated. As a student, this is useful as it allows me to keep up to date with the latest legislation etc. I would suggest that the same theory could be applied to businesses who utilise the site.
Navigation
- The homepage is brilliant as everything is illustrated clearly. The design of the site segregates the different topics clearly allowing for the user to find the information they need – quickly and easily.
Downloads Available
- The downloads from this site are free.
Topic Search Bars
- Probably the best part about the website is the topic search bar. This makes it really easy to find publications, latest news and information on a given topic. Again it is really useful for businesses because the topic search bar allows the user to search by profession.
Presentation of the website
- The format used is professional as I would expect from a government body website.
‘Bad’ Website : www.ashfield-dc.gov.uk
Clarity of the Information
- The information given is generally up to date and appropriate for the users of the website.
Navigation
- The website revolves around the top research bar and the subject areas are not specific making it difficult to navigate around.
Topic Search Bars
- The search bar is unreliable and the results which it finds are not always what is needed.
Presentation of the website
- The background is dull and uninspiring.
